Twenty minutes later, as church bells echoed across campus, swaths of students flooded the sidewalks to attend chapel. Split down the middle, several students expressed a general disinterest in both candidates \u2014 a sharp contrast to the nearby University of Oregon, where political expression is commonplace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trevor Angove, sitting in Bushnell\u2019s commuter lounge, said he voted but was otherwise ambivalent about the election. \u201cI don\u2019t really prefer either of the candidates,\u201d he said, indicating abortion as his top policy priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abby Askew also voted, noting character as important as policy in determining her pick. \u201cI think for me, it\u2019s been a lot about who is representing our country as a person,\u201d Askew said. \u201cThat matters just as much as policy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cody Adams decided not to vote. \u201cI don\u2019t really like either of them,\u201d he said while walking to chapel. \u201cI\u2019m still young enough to the point where I\u2019ll figure it out later in life. Whoever wins, it happens.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emma and Violet, who declined to give their last names, said they were nervous and scared about the results despite voting for different candidates. Emma voted for Harris due to the vice president&#8217;s support for abortion rights, while Violet favored Trump for his economic policies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two friends say their differing political views do not impact their friendship. \u201cI can\u2019t view another person differently. I have my own beliefs, but I won\u2019t let people define them as my character,\u201d Emma said about Violet. \u201cI love her no matter what.\u201d Violet nodded in agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One thing all students agreed on was that they had no idea what would happen tonight.
